MIKE TRAMP's RONNIE JAMES DIO Tribute Song To Appear On Danish Version Of 'Stand Your Ground'

February 2, 2011

MIKE TRAMP & THE ROCK 'N' ROLL CIRCUZ, the new project led by WHITE LION singer Mike Tramp, will release its second album, "Stand Your Ground", on March 28 via Target Records. The Danish version of the CD will include Tramp's tribute song to the legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio — best known for his work with BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and his own band DIO. According to a press release, the track, "clocking in at almost nine minutes, takes you through a magical journey of Ronnie James Dio's life, and you will be left breathless at the end. Those who have already heard the song call it the ultimate tribute ever."

"Hymn To Ronnie" is available for streaming and download using the player below.

Tramp wrote and recorded "Hymn To Ronnie" while working on "Stand Your Ground" with ROCK'N'ROLL CIRCUZ. Tramp previously said that the track always needed to stand by itself and he never felt that he could include it in any form on a commercial album. According to a press release, "This song belongs to all of Ronnie's fans; it's not just a tribute, it's a hymn, something much more sacred to fit the man with the true voice of rock'n'roll."

Tramp got to tour with DIO in 1993 and speaks of Ronnie as a gentle man who wouldn't hurt a fly and who spoke from the heart and made you feel welcome in his company.

Mike is an enormous RAINBOW fan because of Ronnie James Dio and the same goes for BLACK SABBATH. Ronnie brought so much melody to heavy metal, it was a great change.

Tramp says that with Ronnie gone, so is the space and throne he occupied, and no one can and will replace him or even fill his shoes.

The keyboards on Mike Tramp's Ronnie James Dio tribute track were laid down by original RAINBOW keyboardist Tony Carey. The song was recorded at Medley Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark by Søren Andersen and was mixed by Michael Voss at Kidroom Music in Germany.

Mike wrote all the songs on "Stand Your Ground", which was recorded almost live at Medley Studios in Copenhagen with Søren Andersen and Mike Tramp as producers. The album was mixed by Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, RAUNCHY, THE STORM, SURFACT). The cover artwork (see below) was created by Karsten Sand (VOLBEAT).
